Stay Connected with your Family and Friends
Inform your family and close friends about your travel plan and itineraries. Stay connected them everyday whenever you get time. If you are going to some protected area and if you’ll not have a chance to connect with them, inform them earlier about your plans.
Also, try to connect your country embassy in the destination country, whenever you face any issue. It is must to keep contact of your country embassy.
Always stay connect with your family and friends through the smartphone.
Keep your Cash safe
Do not carry all the cash in handy while travelling. Please keep your debit/credit cards for the transactions. But you need to carry some cash in handy. Carrying some bulk money is little risky.
Don’t keep all your cash in a single place. Split the cash and keep some cash in your pocket and in your bag.
Please avoid flash your all cash in crowded places. Because you might be a target for thieves. If you are heading out to visit places on your destination, carry only small amount of cash. Keep your remaining cash safely in your accommodation.
Always be careful about your surroundings when you are in crowded place. There might be a chance of your money getting stolen.
Protect your essential documents
Keep your essential documents like Passport, Visa, Accommodation bookings and Ticket bookings in a protected place in your luggage.
Also keep them easily accessible whenever needs.
Do not share about you more with Strangers
Don’t let strangers to know more about you while you are in unknown place. It might be an advantage for them to trouble you with your weakness. Do not share about your plans with strangers. Gather some safety informations before you visit the place.

Do Research well about destination
It is must to do some basic research about the destination place before planning your trip. Refer government official sites for the informations about the destination.
Gather all the informations like Local language, Transportations, Currencies, Main attractions, Cost of living and Accommodations of the destination places.
Also, know about Food and Culture of the destination place.
Know well about your accommodation before booking
Do some your own research and review the ratings before you book your accommodation. Do not go for low rating places. Choose the hotels/hostels with the good review. Book your accommodation before you leave your home.
Book your accommodation near to the places which you are planning to visit. Prefer hotels in the city centre. Try to avoid sharing your accommodation with unknown person or strangers. Of course sharing accommodation will help us to save some money. But it might be risky sometime at some places.
Keep your valuable things safely in your bag while leaving the hotel room. Use locker to protect your things.
Take care of your health
While travelling, our physical and mental health concern is the major problem. You should have a plan about your health. If you have any health concern, you should ask advice from your doctor about to manage your health.
Avoid eating street foods or unsealed foods/drinks. Keep you hydrated always. Carry a First aid kit box at your baggage. Keep your prescribed medicines if any.
Buy Travel Insurance
Before planning your trip, you should must buy a travel insurance for you. Insurance plans may vary based on different countries/locations. Pick a suitable insurance for you which should cover all the required charges. Personally I’ve used Policy Bazaar to buy a travel insurance.
Do not carry valuable things while travelling
Always keep your valuable things at your hotel/hostel room. Do not carry it during travel.
There might be a chance of your documents or valuable things getting stolen.
Don’t travel with unknown persons
Do not prefer to travel with unknown persons or strangers. If they are asking for a join trip at the unknown places, try to avoid the option.
Avoid hitchhiking when you are in rural areas. It might be leave you in dangerous situation. Be careful when you are visiting unknown places.
Get some informations from locals (Need to mention learn local language)
Before starting your travel, get some informations about the place which you are planning to visit. Ask them for the safety guides, efficient transportations about the place from your location. You need to know about the frequency of the transportation also.
Also, learn some of the frequently using words in the local languages. It will help you if people don’t speak English.
