A few things are very essential when we are going to travel alone. You can get a complete idea about the essential things you need to carry for your solo travel.
For solo travel, it is very important to pack our things very light as much as possible. Packing light puts in you in control.
Why you should pack the things light?
- You can easily access your luggage anywhere.
- You can avoid extra charges for additional luggage while traveling on a flight.
- You can avoid losing bags from the thieves.
- Since it is lightweight, you can easily travel by public transportation rather
- than cabs
- No need to search for elevators all the time. You can easily access it by stairs.
- Also, it will be helpful for your health. It will protect you from back / body pain
Suitcase:
- Always prefer a small suit case for your travel.

Packing tips for solo travelers
- Use a small suit case -Your suitcase should be small rather than medium or big size suitcases.
- Roll your shirts instead of folding – Instead of folding your shirts, roll your shirts and it will save some space in your bag or suitcase.
- Use lightweight clothes – Always prefer lightweight clothes instead of packing jeans or some heavy clothes. Lighter clothes will save some space and it will reduce the weight as well. But it will differ if you are traveling in winter or rainy season and also it will vary depending on the destination.
- Avoid more than one bag – Use only one bag to cover all your things and needs. Avoid extra bags to pack your things. You can use a small backpack and put your things which you access frequently like earphones, wallets, chargers, etc.,

Choosing clothes may vary depending on the below-following factors,

I have listed below the necessary things. You can choose depending on your needs.
- Shirts – Take one or two shirts for your trip
- Jeans – Take one Jeans
- Shorts – Depending on the destination. Take 1 or 2 shorts
- Jacket – One. It depends on the destination.
- Skirt – One. For Solo women traveler.
- Thermal layer – One. Depends on the destination.
- Sweater – One. Depends on the destination.
- Sneakers – One pair of good quality sneaker.
- Sandals – One pair of sandal.
- Bedspread – One bedspread. Depends on the destination.
- Air pillow – Take one good quality air pillow.
- Tent (if you are an adventurer, you love staying in tent)
- Water proof jackets – One. Depends on the destination.
- Quick drying towel – Keep a single piece of quick drying towel
- Good trekking shoe – A pair of good quality trekking shoe.
Necessary Documents
It is always good to keep hard copies of the documents instead of producing them as a digital copy via smartphone
The important documents you have to keep are below
- Passport and visa – Check your passport valid date before leaving and take via confirmation (Applicable for International trip).
- Driving License – Check driving license valid date and renew it if it is expired.
- Hotel/hostel booking tickets – Double check your accommodation booking confirmation tickets.
- Travel tickets – Double check your travel ticket confirmations before leaving.
- Credit/Debit Cards – Take your Credit/Debit cards. Keep interest-free credit cards (Ex: Niyo Global Card) for international travel. You can save some money by charging an additional transaction fee.
- Cash – Keep some cash in handy. Convert cash into local currencies before boarding the flight (Applicable for International travel). You can convert the currency at the destination as well. But the conversion rate might differ.
- ID proof copies – Take few Xerox copies of your I’d proofs.
- Passport size photo – Take few Passport size photographs of yours.
Electronic Gadgets
Gadgets you should keep are listed below
- Smartphone
- Chargers – Carry chargers for all devices you are carrying for trip.
- Power Bank – Take Power bank for your smartphone and gadgets. It is a mandatory thing for your trip.
- Global plugin adaptor – For International trips, a global plugin adaptor is a must thing you need to carry. Plugin adaptors may vary depending on the country. So it is advisable to carry the global plugin adaptor if you are going on an international trip.
- Earphones/Earbuds (I use Apple Airpods) – Of course, we all love to hear music during travel time. Take your headphones or earbuds for your trip.
- Camera (I prefer GoPro) – If you are a travel vlogger/blogger, you should have good camera to shoot videos.
- Watch – Wear a good quality watch.
Toiletries
- Toothpaste, toothbrushes and soap – Don’t forget to take your basics like Toothbrushes, Toothpaste and bathing soaps.
- Perfumes – Take your perfume.
- Sunscreen
- Deodorant
- Make-up kits – Do keep your make up products with you.
- Sanitary napkins – Take a pack of sanitary napkins if needed for women travelers.
- Trimmer – Take one good quality trimmer with you.
- Shampoo and conditioner – Always take your shampoos and conditioners with you during travel. Maybe you will not be able to purchase the shampoo of your brand in the destination places. It may cause some health issues for your hair.
First Aid Kit & Medicines
- First aid kit box – Cotton, Bandages, Scissor, Medical tape, gloves
- Prescription medicines – Do not forget to take your prescribed medicines you are taking.
- Emergency medicines for Caugh, fever, headache
